Miniature Dollhouse Valentine Card

Now that I’ve started making dollhouse miniatures, I just can’t stop!  After I made a miniature heart-shaped Valentine chocolate box the other day, I started thinking about other things related to the holiday that I could recreate on a small scale.   The most obvious answer was a little Valentine’s Day card!  Alas, the card is glued into the envelope, but only because I didn’t want to do the extra work.  I’m crazy, but not that crazy!

Supplies:

• Paper
• Tiny heart sticker
• Pen or pencil
• Scissors
• Glue
• Mod Podge

Directions:

Cut a small scrap of paper or card stock to the size you want your card to be.  Place a tiny heart sticker on the paper.  Then, trace the card onto a piece of paper.  You will use this tracing to create an envelope template.

Find the center point of the traced rectangle, as well as the center point of each line.

Around the outside of the rectangle, make a dot at the center point of each line and the same distance (or slightly farther away) as the distance from the center of the rectangle to the edge.  (Does that make sense?)

Draw lines connecting the outer dots to the corners of the rectangle.  Cut out the resulting shape and use it as a guide to trace and cut out your envelope.

Place the card in the center of the envelope piece.

Fold all four flaps of the envelope in toward each other and crease the edges well.  To finish, glue the card to the envelope so that it will stick out of the top at an angle.  Fold in the side flaps first and glue them into place, then fold up the bottom flap and glue it down.  If you want to make it more durable, paint it with a few coats of Mod Podge.
