I have been getting a crazy good deal on pepperoni lately. So, of course, we’ve been eating quite a few pizza-y dishes recently. I’ve also been getting a great deal on crescent rolls; since I had both on hand, it occurred to me to make my own version of the pizza roll!
Ingredients:
- Crescent rolls
- Pepperoni
- Pizza sauce
- Mozzarella cheese
- Italian herbs
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
2. Open crescent rolls and separate into triangles. Arrange triangles on your work surface.
3. Spread a liberal amount of pizza sauce on the wide end of each triangle, then top with 2 or 3 pepperoni. Sprinkle with Italian herb blend and add a pinch of cheese. You can add as much or as little of each of these ingredients as you want, but remember that the more you add the more difficult they will be to roll and the more messy they will be to eat!
4. Carefully roll each triangle, enveloping the fillings inside. Arrange on cookie sheet and bake 10 to 12 minutes, or until the rolls are evenly golden brown.
These things are so good that you’ll find yourself wanting more. Which is okay, because when you can get the ingredients so cheap you might as well keep making more! And if you really wanted to take this up a notch, try brushing the rolls with garlic butter before they go into the oven. Oh yes, I went there!
