If I had to describe my personal holiday decorating style with one word, I’d say “whimsical”. And that’s exactly what this easy pom pom Christmas garland is! It’s also very inexpensive – I got my pom poms at Dollar Tree, and though I didn’t get my twine at the dollar store I have also recently seen baker’s twine there so I know they now carry it. (Awesome!) Here’s how you make this uber simple holiday decor craft.
You will need:
- Baker’s twine
- Pom poms
- Glue
- Needle
Cut a piece of baker’s twine slightly longer than you want your finished garland to be. Make a loop on one and with an overhand knot, which will give you a way to attach the end to the Christmas tree (or wherever else you decide to hang your garland).
The packages of pom poms I bought had four different sizes; I sorted out all of the biggest and smallest ones and set them aside for another project, just using the two middle sizes for my garland.
Thread the other end of the twine through a tapestry needle string it through the center of each pom pom. Push the pom poms down the twine. Add spread a dab of glue over the twine where you would like each pom pom to be positioned and slide the pom pom over the glue. Once the glue dries, the pom pom will be firmly held in place. Continue adding pom poms for the entire length of the twine; I spaced my pom poms at distances varying from about 3/4 inch to about 1 1/2 inches.
Drape it anywhere for an instant festive touch!
Hi, Rhonda! That is sweet and easy – love the varied sizes along the twine. Your kitty is a star! Does she/he wreak havoc among the decorations and climb your Xmas tree?
